2/8/2007: It's time for another Auto Show Shutdown Festival!
WAR FOR OIL! GLOBAL WARMING! HIT AND RUN! OIL PROFITS AT ALL TIME HIGH! Sounds like it's time for another One cold snap doesn't mean we are off the hook of Global Warming. The Chicago cycling community doesn't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. The Auto Show Shutdown Crew will bike through the thick and thin of whatever winter has to dish out this Saturday, February 10. We are going to let the purveyors and consumers of car culture know that America took a wrong turn years ago, and it’s time to correct our course. This year we are hoping that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. A posse of cycling polar bears will take off from Daley Plaza at 11am and will arrive at the MLK Drive entrance of McCormick Place at Noon. Speeches will be delivered and then the shutdown festival will continue at the north parking lot entrance of McCormick Place from 1-3pm. Select lucky children will receive a toy polar bear before entering the auto show. Each bear will have an inspiring message attached: Save the Earth - Ride a Bike!
